3 Financial Scam Red Flags Every Retiree Needs to Know

I'm Tyler, a former financial advisor and portfolio manager. Now I make financial content for free so that you don't get scammed.

1. Urgency: "Act Now or Else"

If there's ever someone telling you that you need to give them information or invest right now, hang up; it's a scam. Legit organizations will never rush you into a decision.

2. Unusual Payment Requests

Be wary if you're asked to pay someone using gift cards, crypto, or wire transfers. No real company will ever ask for payment in that way. Sorry, crypto bros, we're not there yet.

3. The Secrecy Factor

If you're ever told not to tell anyone about the offer, this should be a massive giveaway. Picture the Walmart checkout person telling you not to mention your recent transaction. If it seems even remotely fishy, trust your gut.

Conclusion

Number one piece of advice: hang up and call back the person or organization at their legitimate number. If any of this is helpful, join the 50,000 other readers who are already getting smarter with their money by signing up for my free newsletter by clicking the link in my bio.
